Port Redwing is a 150-acre greenfield site at the Port of Tampa that is being developed for future cargo and related growth.  This five-year project will be completed in four phases, with one of the phases being the railroad connection to the existing CSX Main Line east of US 41.

This project, the double railroad project, was the first phase and included the design, permitting, and completion of construction drawings, specifications & cost estimates for 7,600′ of a double railroad track, including 2 railroad crossings and 3 new switches in conformance with CSXT standards.

The design of the rail included filling in the existing ditch running along the north side of the road. In addition, impacts to wetlands, that could not be avoided, were mitigated at Coachroach Bay- a 875-acre aquatic preserve.

The project also included coordination with many stakeholders including the Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program and Tampa Electric Company (for connection to their rail).
